Do you work on a commission or percentage of the grant award?

No, grants are designed to fund project tasks during a grant year. Any activities that occur before the grant year are ineligible for funding. Additionally, we provide Proposal Development Services and bill based on the time in developing the service, not based on the amount of a grant award.

What are grants?

Grants are non-repayable funds disbursed by one party (grant makers); often a government department, corporation, foundation or trust, to a recipient; often (but not always) a non-profit entity, educational institution, business or, very rarely, an individual. In order to receive a grant, some form of “Grant Writing” often referred to as either a proposal or an application is usually required.

What is grant writing?

Most grants are made to fund a specific project and require some level of compliance and reporting. The grant writing process involves an applicant submitting a proposal (or submission) to a potential funder, either on the applicant’s own initiative or in response to a request for proposals from the funder. Sometimes grant makers require grant seekers to have some form of tax-exempt status, be a registered nonprofit organization, a local government entity, or some other specified eligible applicant.

What is the first step in securing grant funding?

Unless you have a specific grant in mind, the Grant Funding Analysis will uncover funding that is available to your business. This requires an initial consultation (at no charge) to discuss your goals, proposed activities, or objectives. The Grant Funding Analysis will show you all funding opportunities that are available to your company. On any given day, there are thousands of grant opportunities available. The Grant Funding Analysis ensures that you are able to focus on those that are most relevant to your company. At the conclusion of the Analysis you will receive a comprehensive report listing the available opportunities, a brief description of each, when they are due, how much money is available, and how to apply. The Grant Funding Analysis is $1,000, though special pricing is available for non-profit organizations. Contact Us for details.

If I already have a grant in mind (or we have picked one through the Grant Funding Analysis) what is the next step?

If you have not already received a consultation (no charge), you will meet one-on-one to discuss your company’s goals and the proposed grant in further detail. You will complete a 2-3 page Grant Questionnaire that will help us to better understand your needs to begin to develop the Grant Proposal. After submission of the Questionnaire, we will discuss the specifics of the proposal (when it is due, any special requirements like Letters of Support, etc.) and we will begin work on your Proposal.

How much does it cost to develop a Grant Proposal?

Grant applications are varied: some require significant technical information, others ask for just the basics. The cost of developing a Grant Proposal depends on a number of factors that we will discuss before getting started. As a point of reference, Grant Proposals generally start at $1,000. There is special pricing available for non-profit entities. Contact Us for details.

How long does it take to develop a Grant Proposal?

Generally, a Request for a Proposal (RFP) is published 6 weeks to 3 months before it is due; though due to the highly varied nature of grants, the length of time depends on the application specifics.

Is my company eligible for a grant?

Eligibility is determined by the granting agency and specific project. Without knowing more about your goals, project plans, and business classification it is impossible to answer. At any given time there are thousands of grants available. Contact Us for more information on general eligibility information.

Can’t I write a grant proposal myself?

Absolutely! However, most companies lack the experience and the knowledge about the proposal and application process. One of the advantages of using Grant Writing & Consulting is that you will work with a professional who has the experience and know-how to develop a proposal that is appealing to grant reviewers. GWC can help you create a solid plan for your proposal that will provide your company the best chances of receiving funds. Additionally, GWC can work in-tandem with your in-house grant writers to offer hourly insight and proposal development consulting, if you wish to employ your own resources in developing a proposal.

Can GWC help me beyond the writing of the proposal?

Yes we can. GWC can help your company in many ways. GWC can assist after a grant award is made, help to establish key personnel for management and facilitation of the project, assist in establishing a reporting system, help to compile grant-mandated reports, etc. We can also help with items unrelated to grant writing, such as business consulting, technical writing, etc. Feel free to Contact Us with any questions.

How much will it cost me to hire GWC?

GWC has both an hourly and project specific-rate, depending on the specific project parameters. After a free consultation we can provide you an estimate; though each grant opportunity will have specific parameters. There are multiple options available, designed to fit your budget. GWC is very flexible in finding a funding solution that doesn’t break the bank!

I know what grant I want to apply for, how can GWC help me?

If you already know what grant you want to apply, the process is a bit quicker. In this case GWC can focus on Proposal Development. Contact Us for an estimate.

I don’t know what grants my company is eligible for; can you help me with those?

GWC can help you find grants that suit your company and business best. First Contact Us, for a no charge evaluation. This will likely be followed by a Grant Funding Analysis.

What does the process look like?

Initially, we schedule a no charge consultation to find out more about your organization, mission, vision, and goals. Here, we will discuss your needs and answer any questions you may have about our services. We determine, together, the best way to proceed; often a Grant Funding Analysis. GWC is very flexible and will be able to proceed in the way that best suits you and your company’s needs.

I’m not at all interested in Grants, but would like more information on managing a project, consulting, or developing my business.
